Get your green on! Join us for the 114th Best Ever St. Pat’s Celebration in Rolla; a celebration that pays homage to St. Patrick, the patron saint of engineers.
St. Pat’s in Rolla is a festival of music, games, and off-the-wall activities. The streets are painted green, a royal court is crowned and university students flaunt the creations of homemade wooden shillelaghs; it’s a celebration like no other.
The tradition of St. Pat’s Day has been celebrated in Rolla for more than a century. St. Patrick marked his first Rolla celebration in 1908, on what was then the Missouri School of Mines campus. Engineers rallied around St. Patrick and began what is now one of the most noted and oldest St. Pat’s Day celebrations in the nation.
St. Pat’s in Rolla kicks off with the “Best Ever St. Pat’s 5K” on Saturday, March 19 at 8:00 am. Registration opens at 7:00 am at Public House Brewing Company on Rolla Street in Downtown Rolla. Come walk, run, skip or crawl with us, but be sure to wear your green as there will be prizes for the best wearin’ o the green along with a few other surprise awards! For our competitive runners, the race will be chip timed and awards will be given for each age division and top overall male and female. Following the 5K run, is the highly anticipated Beer Run. What better way to kick off your St. Pat’s than running and beer! Participants will run a total of 4 laps through downtown Rolla, one mile total, with 3oz of beer from Public House per lap. The Beer Run is also $35, and you must be 21 to participate.
After the 5K and Beer Run is the Annual St. Pat’s Day Parade, organized by the Missouri S&T St. Pat’s Board, which will take place in Downtown Rolla on Pine Street at 11:00 am. The fun doesn’t stop after the parade! Join us at the Rolla Downtown Bandshell, located at the corner of 9th and Oak streets, for a free Grateful Board concert at 1:00 PM. Food and drinks will be available for purchase and a beer garden will be open to those that are age 21 and older. There will also be a bigger concert held at the Havener Center on the lawn, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm, followed by fireworks. Tickets can be purchased at the gate that night for $15.
