All is Still Merry & Bright

Though our Christmas traditions might look a bit different this year,

the Rolla community offers a variety of events that are sure to bring holiday joy.

Lichternacht  “Light The Night” – Virtual

Rolla’s tree-lighting ceremony, Lichternacht, will take place, but with everyone enjoying this annual tradition from the comfort of their home. At  7:00 pm on December 4, the organizers will go live on Facebook and “Light the Night!” The public is encouraged to also take part in the event by turning on home decorations or porch lights at the same time. Christkindl Markt – Virtual

Rolla has a time-honored tradition of honoring its sister city in Sonderhausen, Germany, with the annual Christkindl Markt. This year’s event themed “No Place Like Home for the Holidays” will be offered virtually. Activities include decorating at home, sharing recipes, “how-to” craft videos with “grab bags” of supplies available at participating businesses. The public is also encouraged to participate on social media using the hashtag #CKMarktRolla. More Information

Casa’s Festival of Trees

Join CASA of South Central Missouri from November 23 – December 5 as they celebrate the season with their annual Festival of Trees event. This is a virtual event that supports CASA’s mission to advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children in the foster care system. More Information 

Christmas in The Park Light Display

The Rolla Lions and Lioness Club present the 19th Annual Christmas in the Park Light Display. December 9-19, Lions Club parked will be transformed into a drive-through display of twinkling lights and festive holiday displays. Santa, Frosty, and the Grinch will even be around to say hello to the kids! Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. More Information

It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play

Ozark Actors Theatre brings to the stage this beloved American holiday classic as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve. It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play will be live on stage December 10-13 and 17-20. A limited number of tickets will be available to each performance to allow for socially distanced seating. Cookies &Cocoa With Santa

The folks at The Flooring Nook invite you to join them on December 12 for Cookies and Cocoa with Santa! Kids can have their photos taken with Santa, enjoy Christmas crafts, and more. The event is free and open to the public. More Information

Candy Cane Walk

Bundle up the family and take a storybook stroll through Ber Juan Park on December 19. Be on the lookout as you move from page to page. From hot cocoa stations and Christmas crafts to hidden candy canes, this is sure to be a fun way to get in the spirit of the holiday! You never know, Santa may decide to come and visit as well! Pre-registration for time slots is required, the cost is $5 per family. More Information
